At the Be-All 2007:
Chicago's Transgender Conference, we offered three seminars: "Crossdressing- How It Affects Your Relationship with Your Partner", "Where Do I Go From Here? Navigating Dating, Intimacy & Sexuality" & "Can We Survive This? How Couples Can Better Handle One Partner's Transition".
 

We have a combined total of over twenty years of experience in providing psychotherapy and mental health services and educating professionals and lay people on a wide range of issues. Our facilitators possess the expertise and ability to train healthcare providers and students, including but not limited to: physicians, social workers, professors, medical students and non-service providing personnel.

Laura Grimes

Laura received her Bachelor of Science in psychology from Illinois State University and then obtained her Master's degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She has over fifteen years of experience in community mental health, working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Laura is trained in sex therapy techniques by Dr. Domeena Renshaw and Loyola University Medical Center and can provide therapy focusing on a wide range of sexual issues such as: sexual intimacy problems, low sex drive and differing sex drives in relationships, sexual orientation, gender identity, BDSM/kink, polyamorous relationships, sexual issues related to chronic illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, strokes & depression. She has experience in working with individuals and couples specifically around cancer, having facilitated cancer survivor support groups for years through LCCP and Gilda's Club of Chicago.

As a consultant and trainer, she educates medical professionals on the importance of cultural competency and acceptance as they relate to marginalized populations such as those with severe mental illnesses & disabilities and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities, with the goal of making healthcare truly accessible to all.

Logan Grimes
Logan earned his degree in Social Services from Northeastern Illinois University and is currently pursuing his certification as a Physician Assistant. He has amassed over 20 years in social services. He has been active as a community organizer and advocate for underserved and marginalized communities. For the past 4 years, he has been presenting around the topics of gender identity and access to care. As a private consultant, he has trained and presented at national conferences to over 2000 providers and students. Logan has worked in conjunction with both public and private institutions such as: Illinois Department of Public Health, Chicago Department of LGBT Health, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Loyola and Midwestern Universities. He is one of the founding members of GIFT, Gender Identity Foundation for Transgender Men, and also sits on the advisory committee for Gender Odyssey.
